WHAT ARE THE 4 PHASES OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE?

The female menstrual cycle is commonly divided into four phases, each linked to different hormone levels, energy, and mood patterns. While everyone experiences it differently, many people notice general trends like these:

REST + RESTORE

Menstrual Phase (Days ~1–6)

What’s happening:
Hormone levels (oestrogen and progesterone) are low and the uterus sheds its lining (your period).

Energy & mood:

  • Lower energy

  • More reflective or inward-focused

  • Possible fatigue or sensitivity

  • Need for rest and slower pace

Typical vibe: Recharge, rest, self-care.

STRENGTH + STIMULATE

Follicular Phase (Days ~7–12)

What’s happening:
Oestrogen begins rising and the body prepares an egg for ovulation.

Energy & mood:

  • Increasing energy

  • More motivation and focus

  • Curiosity and creativity

  • Feeling optimistic or mentally sharp

Typical vibe: Fresh start, planning, productivity.

PEAK + POWER

Ovulation Phase (Around Day 13 ~16)

What’s happening:
An egg is released from the ovary and estrogen peaks.

Energy & mood:

  • Highest energy and confidence

  • Feeling more social and outgoing

  • Clear communication

  • Increased attraction and charisma

Typical vibe: Connection, confidence, social energy.

NOURISH + NURTURE

Luteal Phase (Days ~17–28)

What’s happening:
Progesterone rises to prepare the body for a possible pregnancy. If pregnancy doesn’t occur, hormones drop toward the end.

Energy & mood:

  • Early luteal: calm, focused, productive

  • Late luteal: lower energy, irritability, or mood swings for some people (PMS)

  • More detail-oriented but also more sensitive

Typical vibe: Focus → slow down → prepare for rest.
